Serenity

This magical photo was taken at a recent wedding I did. It was during prayer  that I looked up (yes, I did open my eyes during prayer!) and saw this absolute magical moment, the serenity on the woman’s face and the almost "Madonna-like" feel with the light spilling onto her face, was something very special to me and I just had to take the photo...

Rikus & Elandi

Rikus & Elandi, got married at Mountpellier in Tulbagh on an absolute gorgeous day... With blue skies and beautiful clouds. These two must definitely be the most willing couple ever and any photographers dream! Elandi never once complained when asked to climb through fences or walk over rugged stones!

Teewaterskloof

I was doing a wedding this weekend in Tulbagh and took the scenic route back home, driving past the Teewaterskloof Dam - this beautiful view awaited me and I could not help but stop!

A different shade of blue...

I recently went to 1st Birthday party and met this little angel! Have anyone seen this kind of blue eyes before...?

Road Trip

On one of the rare weekends that I had some time off, we took a road trip all along the coast from Gordon’s Bay to Cape Point. We could not have asked for a better day, clear blue skies, no wind and the kind of mild winters day, you only get in sunny SA!

We literally stopped at every small town along the coast and ended up in Simons Town for lunch! I was in the mood for seafood and we went to this fantastic little restaurant called Bertha’s on the harbour’s edge... a few hours and 1kg of prawns later, we were ready to make the second leg, to Boulders Beach with it’s adorable penguins, which where nursing newly hatched baby penguins - Cute!!!

Below is a sequence of the days pictures - just loved the bright colours of Muizenberg Beach’s little changing rooms...

My very first blog post!!!

I wish I can say that I was born to be a photographer, that I’ve been taking photos since the tender age of 10... but it took me a while longer to become hooked on “shooting” people. I’m a Saggitarius and true to my star sign, I start all my new projects and endevours with GREAT vigor and dedication, just to lose interest once I’ve figured out the working and “how to” of a new skill or task... and then I move on to the next one. But I’m happy to say that, since shooting my first wedding 5 years ago, I’ve found my calling, my reason to wake up every morning and the part of me I’ve been searching for in all those previous projects. I think the fact that photography isn’t static, that it evolves daily, technologies are updated at the speed of light and the fact that you’ll NEVER know everything about photography is what’s keeping me interested.

How can I become bored with something that’s always one step ahead of me? I use every wedding or shoot I do to become a better photographer, always trying new effects and angles... photography keeps me on my toes, because you can’t sit back and rest on your laurels...

I do all kinds of photography, but I absolutely adore taking wedding photos... The unstaged emotions, facial expressions and special moments, make it so appealing. I love being part of a couple's happiest day, being part of the inner circle and being able to create memories that will last beyond the frosting on the cake and the bubbles in the champagne...
