Sony Pro Photo Awards

I entered the Sony Profoto Awards a few months back - and was really elated when they invited me to the Gala Dinner Award Ceremony to be held in Johannesburg on 8 April 2010. I'm really chuffed, because the standards this year were VERY high and it's a priveledge to be among some of the biggest names in the industry!

You can also win by voting for the "People's Choice Awards" @ http://www.profotoawards.co.za/

Over 6000 images were submitted for the 2009 PROFOTO Awards by Sony, Southern Africa’s premier showcase of professional photography. The images were judged over a two-week period by a panel of local and international judges to determine the winners of the various categories. Now you have a chance to be a judge - and win a great prize in the process! View the Finalists’ Images by visitingwww.profotoawards.co.za between 29 March - 8 April 2010 and if the image you vote for is also voted “Image of the Year” by the panel of judges, you could win a fabulous Sony A500 DSLR Camera. Nel & Marina, Paarl

Nel and Marina got married on Nel's Family farm - with an absolute stunning French style house. Marina had the most gorgeous gown made by renowend wedding couture designer, Johan Smit and I must say that her dress was one of the most unique I've ever seen, with a loooooooooooooooooooong trail made of delicate tulle and purple netting for her petticoat - it suited her personallity perfectly! Have a look at her portraits - doesn't she look exactly like Scarlette Johannson?

Vlokkie & Lida-Mari

One can't help but like this couple! They're easy to talk to, comfortable in front of the camera, can't keep their hands of each other and they're cleary in love!!!! I really laughed when Lida-Mari mentioned that she's so happy she's found me as her wedding photographer - because I'm going to be famous one day :) Lets hold thumbs Lida-Mari...

I played around with colour and effects which you can do with engagementshoots - I try to keep my weddings as "natural" as possible, but with these I could push the colour a bit. If there's duplicates in Black & white - sorry - I couldn't choose!

Jamie & Kyle

Jamie's the boy and Kyle's the girl! I'm doing their wedding in April and we decided to do an engagement shoot before the wedding. I've always wanted to take pictures of the colorful little houses of the Bo-Kaap and my friends would tell you I LOVE colours - so I literally felt like a kid in a candy shoppe with all the candy coloured backdrops!
